Tourists stunned as Wizz Air jet skies head over Greek beach

Greek beach-goers were shocked when a low-flying Wizz Air plane zoomed overhead just before landing on Skiathos .

Before the jet landed on the runway, an avid aviation enthusiast videotaped the moment as it flew just feet above the sunbathers.

Skiathos Alexandros Papadiamantis Airport's runway is very close to the beach, with locals and tourists pitching in to enjoy the summer days nearby.

In a video posted to his YouTube by the Airlines account GreatFlyer on Friday (August 5), one beach fan shouts "Holy s ***' can be heard yelling. It seems to crouch and flinch as the jet passes by.

After it had passed, some people on the beach laughed nervously.

The aircraft involved was an Airbus A321neo operated by Wizz Air.

The sea-to-coastal airport approach is common in the Mediterranean, but some aviation enthusiasts have noted that this approach appears much lower to the ground than normal.

"The pilot aimed low and aimed very well. Impressive and dangerous!" commented Paul Morley.

"Amazing capture. It was very low! Said Dominica Aviation.

Others said plane witnesses and tourists stepped onto the landing strip.

"Those people shouldn't be in the danger zone. The police should be there just to avoid such gatherings," he said. Someone said.

The Independent has reached out to his Wizz Air for comment.
