Toxteth shooting: Man shot dead as 'suspect fleeing on e-bike'

A murder investigation has been launched inToxteth after a

man was shot dead in the street.

Merseyside Police said he received a call about a shooting at Lavrock Bank around 11:40 pm Tuesday night, and that he was seriously injured. They said they found a man who appeared to be in his early 20s. Gunshot wound to upper body.

Police said in a statement that they believed the attacker fled the scene on an electric bicycle.

Officers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene until an ambulance arrived and the man was taken to hospital. He was pronounced dead some time later.

Merseyside Police have launched a murder investigation and crime scene investigators are conducting forensic examinations. Officers are also conducting house-to-house searches and reviewing CCTV footage to identify criminals.

Chief Inspector Rooney said:

"We understand that this is shocking to the community, but we would like to reassure you that we are stepping up patrols in the area and conducting a number of investigations. If anyone has information that would be helpful to the investigation, or saw or heard anything suspicious before or after the incident, please come forward and tell us what you know.

If anyone has CCTV or video of the doorbell ringing, it may be helpful to contact them in an emergency.”
