On Thursday, users who tried to access evidence of vaccination status via the NHS app and website found the service unavailable, and the app told users: .
"There are currently no alternative routes to access this information via the NHS app or online.
"If you have already downloaded the information, your access will not be affected.
On social media, some vacationers said they were unable to check in at the airport because they were unable to prove their vaccination status.
NHS Digital tweeted: We are looking into this as soon as possible and will provide an update as soon as possible.
"We apologize for any issues this may cause. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue."
The requirement to show an NHS Covid pass when visiting indoor and outdoor events and venues such as cinemas and nightclubs was dropped earlier this year.
However, it is still used as a way for people to indicate vaccination status when traveling abroad to certain countries.
