Britons 'can't pay bills' so trade unions can call for 'simultaneous strike', says Mick Lynch

Trade unions are on the verge of calling a "synchronized" strike, RMT union leaders suggest.

Mick Lynch today warned of a "huge reaction from workers" asinflationoutstrips workers' wages.

RMT bosses flocked to Euston Station to join the picket line alongside TUC General Secretary Francis O'Grady.

Due to a strike by RMT and his TSSA members, there were only five trains running across the country on Thursday, one for him.

Asked if Britain was close to a general strike, Mr. Lynch said, "Only the TUC can call a general strike."

Transportation Secretary Grant Shaps has developed a "16 Point Plan" to deal with railroad strikes.

He cited plans to stop people from using "inflammatory language" at pickets and to force unions to give four weeks' notice of industrial action.

Angela Rayner, Labor's deputy leader, denounced him as "desperate and destructive".

"Grant Shaps has not lifted a finger to settle the strike and continues to provide nothing for working people facing a cost of living emergency," she said.
