Novak Djokovic is a favorite to win the 2022 US Open... though banned from the tournament!
According to bookmaker Betfair , the Serbian superstar priced 5/4 to clinch his 22nd Grand Slam title. Stars gather in New York for the final Grand Slam of the year.
But Djokovic is likely to miss his chance.
That's because he's vaccinated and won't be able to play at this year's US Open.
The 35-year-old has won the tournament three times in his career. In 2011, 2015 and most recently in 2018 he defeated Juan He Martindel He Potro in the final.
However, Djokovic has not been vaccinated against Covid-19, a current requirement for foreign travelers entering the United States.
The player also recently reaffirmed that he will not be vaccinated to enter the United States.
He said. However, as of today, that is not possible. There's not much I can do anymore.
"That is, it is really up to the U.S. government to decide whether to allow unvaccinated people into the country."
Current US Open champion Danil Medvedev can join his 11/5.
The Russian is currently number one in the world and just in time after winning his first ATP title of 2022 at his Cabos Los Angeles Open in Mexico. It looks like it's holding up well.
Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal were tied on his 5/1, while Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios won on his 13/2.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner both tied at his 14th second, with Felix Auger-Aliassime overall and his Taylor Fritz further behind at his 18/1.
