Peaky Blinders season six just dropped on Netflix, ending the Birmingham boys’ saga on the small screen.
If you thought all good things must come to an end, you clearly don’t know Hollywood, as a film sequel is on the way.
Yes, a movie is in pre-production, and showrunner Steven Knight just gave a promising update pointing to development starting imminently.
It has actually been in the pipeline for a number of years now, but there were doubts it would ever happen when the production of the BBC show’s final season was thrown into development hell during Covid-19.
Thankfully, it released to critical acclaim, with fans more than satisfied by how the series wrapped its many diverging arcs.

However, showrunner Steven Knight did recently tease that he’s "hoping that we'll be shooting… within 18 months. And then obviously, we put it together".
“I don't know. I mean, it will depend on the distributors and things when it goes out,” he added.
Expect a release window of 2024, though it could be later than that if shooting doesn’t begin soon.
What is the plot of the Peaky Blinders film?

BBC)Peaky fans may be aware the showrunner wanted the saga to end with World War II for years now.
That is finally happening with the movie, as it will be set during the conflict.
In an interview with Radio Times, Steven shared an update on the development of the film, along with some details about its Second World War setting.
He explained: "Nearly nearly nearly, it's almost there, so, you know, we've got the shooting schedule, we've got the dates for when we start, so that's all going to happen.
“It's the same rules [as writing the TV show] but I mean, always with Peaky I've tried to make it the same, but different. So, every new series has a different sort of purpose.
"I've had this in mind for quite a while now, a story with the Peakys during the Second World War, and I've picked up three true stories that I'm integrating into the film.
“True, sort of secret and unknown stories about the Second World War, and I've involved the Peakys in there.
"I'm always interested because with the Second World War there was so much going on and so much death and destruction, that lots of things happened that didn't really make it into the history books.
“So, it's those things I'm focusing on."
Another intriguing update is that Polly Gray, who was played by the late Helen McCrory will "remain a fundamental part of the movie".

However, during an interview with Digital Spy, the showrunner did tease that Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy) and Arthur (Paul Anderson) would appear in the film in some capacity.
When asked if they would return after season six, Steven said: "It's impossible to say yet. But the film – yes.”
The show pulled in a talented cast of big-name stars over the years, many of which are already known on the big screen.
Some of these include Tom Hardy as Alfie Solomons, Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray and Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg.
Any of the show’s stars could make a return, either to continue their story or through flashbacks.

Steven recently spoke to BBC Midlands Today, teasing a return to the small screen for a very different-sounding show.
“If there is an appetite for the world then it will continue,” the showrunner said.
He added that is could have “possible new stories into the 1950s”.
If this is the case, viewers could be about to witness the beginnings of a Peaky-verse (PBU?), as ridiculous as that sounds.
Regardless, for fans of the show, more adventures with Tommy and the gang can only be a good thing.
