Wolves flee zoo enclosures after someone 'deliberately releases them'

A wolf in a Canadian zoo has escaped from its enclosure after someone suspected it had been "deliberately released."

One animal is still released after the drama at Aldergrove's Greater Vancouver Zoo.

The zoo announced an abrupt closure after the herd disappeared on Tuesday.

A police investigation was then launched for "malice."

Most of the wolves have now been returned to the Animal Health and Welfare team.

But at least one of him was missing this morning. It is believed to be somewhere within the zoo grounds.

Greater Vancouver Zoo has 9 gray wolves and his 6 cubs. It is unknown how many wolves escaped.

The Langley RCMP is investigating what it believes to be trespassing and vandalism.

The statement reads: "The Greater Vancouver Zoo is working with the Langley RCMP and the BC Department of Conservation to try to contain the wolf found outside its enclosure this morning. This is an ongoing investigation and is questionable.

Zoo officials have assured local residents that there is no danger to the public.
