A woman has been arrested for child neglect after her 4-month-old baby died in hospital, but police are still looking for answers.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Francesca Purcell, who was found in "critical condition" at her home in Solihull, near Birmingham.

On April 2, paramedics were called to the house to treat the unresponsive infant, but unfortunately she was not saved.

Francesca died later that day at Heartland Hospital.

A woman was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and she was subsequently released on police bail.

"On arrival, the crew found one patient, a baby girl, in critical condition. Officers put the girl on advanced life support, but sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save her and she died.
