Woman admits to washing her Christmas tree in the bath leaving people confused

A woman has divided Christmas fans on social media after admitting that she washes her tree in the bath every year. Even if your Christmas tree is fake, it can still cause a lot of mess in your home, as it gathers dust and the artificial pines can often fall off.

But instead of dusting it or running the hoover around, one houseproud woman has caused a stir by posting pictures of her Christmas tree being washed in the bath before putting it up in the living room - for the sole reason of making it as sanitary as possible, the Mirror reports.

Posting on Facebook group, Mums Who Clean, the woman claimed she'd recently moved to a pet-free home and explained that she always makes sure to get rid of any dust or dirt before covering her tree with twinkling decorations once again.

It may seem pointless at first, but for those who live in a house with small animals, it could actually make a lot of sense. A fake Christmas tree could well be left up for as long as one month during the festive season, gathering all sorts of airborne germs amid the sparkle.

Then it's packed away and put back into storage for the process to repeat next year, often not being cleaned before doing so. With this in mind, a number of fellow Facebook users praised her 'great idea', which they remarked seemed just so 'obvious' upon reflection.

Some noted just how shocked they were when, year after year, they saw just how much dust had gathered on their trusty old tree. But others were left confused at why the bath seemed like a good idea, wondering why they had to clean it as it just added to their already busy workload.

Giving it a scrub in the bath may not be a good idea if your tree is fragile, so it's recommended you give it a good dust every year instead.
