When Anglee sought a second opinion at a private clinic, she was told there was nothing serious about her.

Over the next several months, she had numerous blood tests, respiratory tests, an ultrasound, and she had a 7-day electrocardiogram (ECG), all of which returned normal results. .

It wasn't until Anglee insisted on having a CT scan, despite doctors' reluctance given her young age, that she had a non-Hodgkin's cancer, a cancer that arises from white blood cells. It wasn't conclusively determined that I had lymphoma. cells called lymphocytes.

``I completely lost my confidence. Everyone hides it.

"I think there are a lot of Asian girls who have to hide something, but I'm trying to break the stigma right now.

Fortunately , as her cancer treatment progressed, so did her outlook on how she bounced back.

Angley said she entered the Miss Her Universe contest in January 2022 and had to tell her family what she had been through.

She wanted to use this platform to inspire other women to have her confidence in the face of adversity.

Angley placed second in the contest and she was the first cancer patient to participate.

Now an ambassador for cancer charity Macmillan, she has a legal training contract with a top London law firm.

With her chemotherapy completed, Anglee was told that she was cured and the cancer was in remission.

She added: "I have endured the hardest six months of my life. It has not been easy for me to share this publicly, but I hope it helps to inspire other women.

``I try to encourage women everywhere to stand up for themselves, whether for their health or in the workplace. My goal and everything I do now is to be a voice for change."
