Manchester United captain Harry Maguire got off to a great start with a 2-1 loss to Brighton on opening day.
Pascal Grosz scored twice to get Erik ten Hag's bad start to his time at Manchester United. On Danny Welbeck was scattered, but explained his poor start.
He told Sky Sports: "We went into the game positively and had a good pre-season, but losing 2-0 at half-time at Old Trafford was a shame. It was a bad start.
"After that, I conceded the first goal and was devastated. We need to be careful not to let the first goal set us back so far."

``We had a lot of pressure and a lot of balls, but we need to be a little more creative and we need to improve on that

Maguire teamed up with rookie Lisandro Martinez in central defense, but both scored well in the first half thanks to Welbeck's efforts.
Martínez luckily did not concede a penalty in the second half, pushing Welbeck to the floor with the score 2-0.

Both improved in the second half as United showed more urgency, but by then the damage was done ,Despite the introduction of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ten Hug's team failed to recover.
Of his new defensive partner, Maguire added: We hadn't played together much, and in the beginning we weren't on the same wavelength. The centre-back partnership has been building over time and we will get better and keep a clean sheet.
"Everybody knew the job. We have a new manager trying to bring his philosophy to the team, but if it's not right, we seem too open. It was Old Trafford's first win of the era.
