If you can find an owl hiding in the forest, you are a hawk's eye

Hide

Can you spot the owls playing hide and seek?

Fully camouflaged owls have their plumage blended seamlessly with the bark and hide in trees.

The owl is the African Scops Owl, a small owl found only in sub-Saharan Africa.

Perched on a tree branch, it is nearly impossible to spot.

These images were taken by his Roan du Plessis, his safari guide at Ngala Safari Lodge,& Beyond. His private game in South Africa is his reserve and he lives and works there.

Roan took his 2016 photo to show visitors to the safari park just how good the reserve trackers are at locating animals.

He said: that's right.

"I was on safari with my guests when I took these pictures. I wanted to show how amazing trackers are at finding animals."

Roan lives surrounded by witty animals that have been specially evolved to be nearly invisible in the trees.

"I like the composition and colors of the photo, and how it shows the potential camouflage of these vulnerable predators.

"More pictures like this. I wouldn't say the odds are low, as this is typical behavior of scops owls. If, of course, you can spot one," he added.

Finding an owl

If you look closely at the center of the owl, you might be able to tell by looking at the photo.

African owls are so completely camouflaged that they can hardly be seen.

Upon closer inspection, you'll begin to see the outline of an owl. A bird, but this little creature has driven people crazy.
