Young boy hospitalised after crash on Scots road as police probe van smash

A police investigation has been launched after a woman and an eight-year-old boy were left injured after a two vehicle crash near Forfar.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Dunnichen Road, Kingsmuir, at around 8.50am on Wednesday, November 23, following reports of a smash.

Officers closed the road for more than three hours after a white Ford Transit van had collided with a red Toyota Yaris. The female driver of the car, 44, and the young boy were taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

They have since been released following treatment. The driver of the van was uninjured and the road reopened at around 12pm.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who have relevant dash cam footage to come forward.

A Police Scotland statement said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances.

“Officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or who has relevant dash cam footage of the area at the time, to contact police.

“Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0543 of 23 November, 2022.”
