Navan man completes incredible 227km charity run to Donegal – in three days!

Navan man Dave Tyrell completed an incredible 227km run to Donegal last night – all for charity, and all in just 72 hours!

Dave set out on the journey to raise funds for two causes close to his heart, following the death of a close friend – SOSAD Ireland, a free counselling service, and Meath River Rescue.

Dave says that through his grief, he was able to find the theraputic power of counselling through SOSAD’s services, and the healing power of running after his partner suggested it to him.

He started his journey from Navan on Thursday, with the daunting task of having to average 75km of running every day to reach it to Donegal by the end of Saturday evening.

After reaching Donegal Town on Friday evening, Dave set off again in the darkness of Saturday morning in order to make it to his final destination of Carrickfinn Beach!

A full 19 hours later, Dave arrived at his final destination at Carrickfinn after a gargantuan final day effort – and was greeted by a crowd as well as probably the most well-earned pint of the weekend in the county!

Dave’s fundraiser has amassed an incredible €10,000 for the two charities – you can donate to it through GoFundMe here:
