Sadness following death of Fr Michael Conaghan

Tributes have been paid to former County Donegal parish priest Fr Michael Conaghan, following his death at age 87.

Fr Conaghan was ordained a priest in 1965, serving the church until 2010 in a number of parishes internationally, but also within Donegal.

He started out working on missions in Tanzania, before becoming a curate in Drumkeen in 1976.

Over the next two decades of his career, he also worked as a curate in Ballyshannon and Creeslough, being assigned a post at Holy Cross College in Falcarragh, and being the Chaplain of Letterkenny University Hospital from 1983 to 1986.

He was made parish priest of Kilmacrennan in 1994, and worked there until his retirement in 2010.

Fr Conaghan’s funeral arrangements are as follows:

His remains are reposing at St Columba’s Church Kilmacrennan. Public viewing today, Sunday October 1st, from 6pm to 8pm, followed by rosary.

Requiem Mass in St. Columba’s Church, Kilmacrenan on Monday 2nd October at 12noon followed by burial in St Patrick’s Graveyard, Crossroads, Killygordon.
