Popular dating show ‘Love Island’ headed to Israel

The popular dating game show “Love Island” is coming to Israel and will soon be available on the new broadcast platform FREE TV.

Israel will become the 26th country to launch its own version of the successful reality show, which first aired in the UK in 2015 and has since become a worldwide sensation.

In “Love Island,” a group of young contestants is paired off and left under constant surveillance in a villa in a remote location. The couples compete in various physical and mental challenges and are gradually eliminated. The winning couple receives a combined prize of £50,000.

The Israeli version will feature 30 bachelors and bachelorettes in their 20s who will be sent to an undisclosed location for two months of filming. Auditions are already underway.

According to Channel 12, production has been delayed due to the production studio in charge of the project, Armoza Formats, insisting on finding an “exceptionally luxurious” location for the show’s first season.

The report said Israeli producer Gregory Beckerman will also be involved in production. Beckerman is known for producing several Israeli reality shows in recent years, including “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race.”

The show will only be available on the new TV broadcast platform FREE TV being developed by Keshet Media Group, which owns Channel 12, and RGE group. The service is expected to become available by the end of the year.

FREE TV’s content director Hili Horev said she was excited to announce the beginning of production of the “Israeli version of ‘Love Island,’ which is the world’s largest, boldest and most discussed reality format in the world.”

Horev added that FREE TV intends to produce more “super attractive content for Israeli viewers.”
