Police Seize Firearm, Recover Stolen Goods and Arrests Man for Money Laundering

Police Press Office – On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, about 11:45 p.m. officers attached to the Special Services Unit (North), were conducting routine patrols within the city, when apparent gunshots were heard in the Hospital Road area.

They proceeded to the location and subsequently arrested twenty-one (21) year old Jaheem St. Luce of Hospital Road, for unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition, following the recovery of a magazine containing eight (8) rounds of ammunition and a Beretta pistol, with a magazine containing six (6) rounds of ammunition.

St. Luce was formally charged by officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department and was escorted before the First District Court, where he was granted bail as follows:

Possession of Firearm: $20,000.00 cash or suitable surety

Possession of eight (8) rounds of ammunition: $16,000.00 cash or suitable surety

Possession of six (6) rounds of ammunition: $12,000.00 cash or suitable surety

Travel restrictions and reporting conditions were also applied as part of the defendant’s bail conditions.

About 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 01, 2022, Officers attached to the Special Services Unit (North) were conducting mobile patrols when they intercepted a Toyota Voxy at Ti Rocher, Castries.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers recovered a refrigerator, speaker and blender, suspected to have been stolen during a Burglary. The occupants were arrested and later charged for Unlawful Possession by officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department. Jamal Callender, a thirty-five (35) year old resident of Corinth and Martin Edwards, a sixty-eight (68) year old resident of Hospital Road, Castries were escorted before the First District Court, where they were granted bail as follows:

  • $1500.00 cash or suitable surety
  • Reporting to police stations one weekly.
  • Travel restrictions.

The matter was adjourned to February 10, 2023, for case management.

About 9:20 p.m. on Monday, December 05, 2022, Officers attached to the Special Services Unit (North) were conducting mobile patrols in Marchand, Castries, when they encountered a motor scooter.

The pinion rider disembarked and attempted to flee, however officers gave chase and arrested him. He was observed tossing an item into the nearby river. Officers searched the river and recovered a .380 pistol containing three (3) rounds of ammunition.

The suspect was escorted to the Criminal Investigations Department, Castries, and remains in police custody pending charging. An update will be provided in due course.

On Monday, December 05, 2022, Officers attached to the Bicycle Patrol Unit (North) were conducting patrols within the Boulevard, Castries, when they approached a motorcar which was unlawfully parked.

The passenger of the motorcar attempted to flee as officers approached. Officers gave chase and arrested him. A search was conducted of his person and foreign currency in various denominations was found, including 4200.00 USD.

The driver of the motorcar was also searched and a small quantity of suspected cocaine, along with 2600.00 XCD was recovered on his person.

Both males were cautioned and arrested in connection with Money Laundering. An update will be provided in due course.
