MR. Joseph Joseph, Labour Commissioner of Saint Lucia has dispatched a Recognition Certificate to the National Workers Union (NWU). This development is as a result of a Secret Ballot Poll undertaken by the Department of Labour among the non-managerial employees of Buckeye St. Lucia Terminal Ltd. based at Cul de Sac.
The findings established that 66% of the eligible voters voted in favour of the National Workers Union. Consequently, the NWU is the legal bargaining representative for the employees, which was officially confirmed in a letter dated September 20, 2023 to Buckeye St. Lucia Terminal Ltd.
The Union expects to meet with the Management Team of the company shortly to engage in discussions on the Union’s thrust for establishing an industrial agreement on behalf of the employees.
