Italian PM Meloni Reaffirms Support for Ukraine, Calls for Global Involvement

In a recent address at a prominent business forum in northern Italy, Giorgia Meloni, Italy's Prime Minister, reaffirmed her nation's steadfast support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia. The statement came after a meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the Ukrainian President, on the sidelines of the event.

Meloni, who became Italy's first female prime minister in October 2022, emphasized that Italy's backing of Ukraine was primarily a matter of national interest and would remain unchanged. This stance aligns with Italy's commitments as a member of NATO and the European Union, both of which have been supporting Ukraine since the conflict's escalation in February 2022.

"The only thing that cannot happen is to think that the conflict can be solved by abandoning Ukraine."
