Poland's 2025 Budget to Set New Record in Defense Spending

This allocation represents a considerable portion of Poland's GDP, which was approximately $688 billion in 2023. The increase underscores Poland's commitment to surpassing NATO's guideline of 2% GDP spending on defense, a benchmark it has consistently exceeded in recent years.
Tusk characterized the overall 2025 budget as "generous" and supportive of continued economic growth. The emphasis on defense spending reflects Poland's strategic concerns, particularly given its 535 km border with Ukraine, which has been embroiled in conflict since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
"It is a great effort but there is no turning back from it."
