The Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation dinner which raises money for Catholic charities saw Harris decline an in-person invite: instead she appeared in a pre-recorded video. Its unclear why she chose not to attend in person
Earlier that day Harris was at a campaign rally in La Crosse Wisconsin where she spoke out against Trumps recent comments. At a town hall the day before Trump had referred to Jan 6 2021 — when his supporters attacked the U.S Capitol — as “a day of love“
