iciHaiti - Bas Artibonite : The PNH releases 4 hostages

Tuesday, January 10, 2013, the police of Bas Artinonite with reinforcements from the Departmental Unit for Maintaining Order (UDMO), released safe and sound 4 hostages in "Dig", a locality of the Liancourt commune.

The kidnapping was held by heavily armed individuals while the victims were in a car to deposit money in the bank.

After the kidnapping, the kidnappers took to the streets with weapons in hand and tried to mobilize part of the population against the police to force them to put up barricades on the road so that the police could not not free the hostages. However, the population supported the police and provided specific information on where the hostages were being held.

Agents from the Departmental Unit for Maintaining Order (UDMO) came to reinforce their colleagues of Saint-Marc. Note that thanks to the Bas Artibonite police, the 4 hostages were finally released. As for the kidnappers, they fled.

The first elements of the investigation reveal that there is a possibility that family members of the victims were involved in the kidnapping. They were in contact with members of the "Lyankou" gang and would have hired 3 bandits to commit this act.
