iciHaiti - Cholera : Entry ban on cooked food from Haiti on the Dajabón market

As part of the preventive sanitary cordon set up along the border with Haiti due to the reappearance of cholera cases, the Dominican authorities of the Province of Dajabón have announced that they are prohibiting the entry of cooked food from of Haiti in the facilities of the bilateral border market of this city.

The information was made public during a meeting in Dajabón of officials led by Francisco García Espinal, the Provincial Director of Public Health on the health measures to be implemented after the appearance of a new cholera epidemic in Haiti. .

As explained by Francisco García Espinal, tents and washbasins will be set up in the next few hours. In addition, specialized personnel will be deployed on site to deal with any suspicious cases entering through this part of the border.

Regarding the border market, the authorities have coordinated with the Mayor's office to set up handwashing facilities and other preventive measures to prevent a possible spread of the disease in the Dominican territory.

During the meeting, authorities urged people to cook the food they eat well and wash their hands frequently to avoid possible infection.
