Ancient wall markings in English manor tell hidden stories from Tudor times

In a historic manor located in Englands East-Midlands region Rick Berry made some eye-catching finds. As a hands-on tour guide at Gainsborough Old Hall (a well-preserved building from medieval times) Berry spent about two years looking at wall markings: studying and making maps of them

The old-fashioned manor which stands for more than five centuries features lots of interesting wall-scratches from different time-periods. Berry noticed various types of marks including old-style English writing Latin text and some fancy-looking decorations. One special marking caught his attention - an ornate “R“ symbol which might be connected to a real-life royal event: when King Henry VIII and his wife Catherine Howard stayed at the manor back in yr 1541

These wall-carvings tell stories about the manors past visitors and daily-life; some marks look like quick notes while others seem more thought-out and planned. The mix of different writing styles dates and symbols makes this place a time-capsule of British history (with each scratch telling its own unique tale)
