Drone hits IAEA car near biggest nuclear plant in Europe - what happened?

A drone-strike hit International Atomic Energy Agencyʼs official car near Ukraineʼs Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant (the largest atomic facility in Europe) causing major damage to its back-end

Rafael Grossi IAEAʼs chief made clear his position: “I condemn in the most firm terms this attack on the IAEA staff“ he noted that hitting nuclear sites or people who try to stop accidents during war-time is completely wrong. The incident happened while IAEA teams were doing their regular staff switch; however no-one got hurt

The attack got quick reaction from Volodymyr Zelenskiy who blamed Moscow saying Russians knew exactly what they were targeting – a car with clear IAEA marks on it. He asked for strong response from world organizations; while Russian side stayed quiet about this event

Russia has kept control of Zaporizhzhia facility since about two years ago when they started the war. Both sides keep saying its the other one who makes dangerous moves near the plant: some facts point to Ukrainian shells while others suggest Russian involvement in safety issues

The Russian National Guard wrote on Telegram that they just helped with staff rotation that day. They also said their specialists checked the area for left-over shells from what they called previous Ukrainian attacks – but didnt mention anything about the drone-strike
