Early morning missile hit forces Ukraine's major city to cut power

Early this morning around 7am local time Russian forces launched an attack on Dnipro causing significant damage to the citys industrial zone and starting two separate fires

The regional head Serhiy Lysak reported that emergency teams are checking attack results after air-defense systems detected incoming missiles (which made residents seek shelter). Borys Filatov the citys mayor confirmed that a local rehab-center took damage: its heating system got destroyed and windows were blown-out

DTEK Ukraines biggest private energy company had to make quick power-cuts in several areas:

  • Kyiv capital region
  • Odesa southern area
  • Dnipropetrovsk central zone
  • Donetsk eastern territory

The capital citys administration made a quick decision - they planned to stop any scheduled power shut-offs that morning; however other regions still dealt with emergency black-outs due to the strikeʼs impact on key infrastructure
