Fast-food customer helps catch Manhattan murder suspect, sparks online drama
A quick-thinking customer at a Pennsylvania fast-food place helped catch a murder suspect from Manhattan. Google had to step in after internet users started posting fake reviews about the restaurant
Google cleaned-up its review platform yesterday after web-users flooded McDonalds with fake comments (the restaurant where police caught a murder suspect)
Luigi Mangione‚ age 26 got spotted at a fast-food place in Altoona PA by a sharp-eyed customer who told staff about him. The suspect was eating there after five days on-the-run
The internet attack known as review-bombing hit the place with lots of one-star ratings. One fake review said: “theres rats in kitchen that will make you sick and your insurance wont cover it;“ Google quickly removed these posts as they break its rules about real customer feedback
The case links to Brian Thompson a 50-year-old health insurance boss murder in mid-town Manhattan. The killing happened Dec 4th when a masked person shot him from behind near his hotel – the shooter had been waiting there. After that the attacker rode a bike through Central Park then took a taxi to catch a bus north
Many people posted bad reviews because they felt mad about health-care costs and insurance problems. The murder made folks think about their own issues with medical bills and coverage denials which keep getting worse these days
The suspect did this: rode through the park‚ got in a taxi to a bus station then left NYC. Police think he picked Thompson as his target on purpose. The whole chase lasted about 5 days until that McDonaldʼs visit in PA ended it
