Heronimus Lamawuran‚ a local govt official stated that out of 16000 residents living near the volcano about 6000 people moved to safer locations. More than 2000 homes got damaged in the area since 11/3/24 when the first deadly blast killed nine people
The volcano sits in East Nusa Tenggara province: one of many active peaks in the country thats part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Hadi Wijaya from the volcanology agency confirmed todays eruption produced the highest ash column since Sundays event. Officials say theyʼve got enough food and masks for everyone at evacuation spots
