Louisiana church turns into red-white-blue celebration spot near New Orleans
A local Louisiana church transformed into a lively gathering spot mixing prayer with patriotic spirit. Hundreds joined the event that combined traditional New Orleans culture with religious celebration

At Covenant Church in Destrehan (a small town near New-Orleans) hundreds of people came together for an up-beat prayer gathering not long ago. The church-goers created a one-of-a-kind mix of faith and patriotism that filled every corner of the building
The scene looked like a well-planned party: ceiling lights made star-patterns above while folks dressed in red-white-and-blue sat in packed rows. Following New-Orleans customs some people walked down the churchs main aisle holding sun-shades; a live jazz-band played nearby
The whole place had a feel of whats-to-come excitement as people joined in prayer hoping their spiritual gathering would help shape Americas future. The mix of faith-based wishes and homeland dreams made this night different from regular church meetings - everyone seemed to share a feeling that big changes were just around the corner
