Mysterious drone drops paint at Russian embassy while Sweden faces Moscow trouble
A paint-dropping drone targeted Russian embassy in Stockholm while Swedish diplomats dealt with their own embassy troubles in Moscow. Both countries diplomatic buildings face security issues
Early friday morning a strange-looking drone appeared over the Russian embassy in Stockholm dropping colorful paint all over the compounds grounds (police still dont know who did it)
The incident happened just after Swedish officials learned about their own embassy issues in Moscow: vandals damaged their diplomatic building on thursday. Maria Malmer Stenergard Swedens foreign minister made it clear that Russia needs to protect Swedish diplomats; while Russian embassy officials want Swedish police to find those responsible for the paint-dropping drone
Swedish police started looking into both cases — the paint-dropping drone and Moscow vandalism might be connected. “Its serious when a countrys embassy gets damaged like this“ Stenergard wrote in her e-mail statement. Local law-enforcement opened a pre-investigation but havent found any suspects yet
We insist that all incidents against the Russian embassy be thoroughly and impartially investigated and that the perpetrators be found and brought to justice
The Swedish foreign ministry keeps talking with Moscow about these embassy problems: both sides need to make sure their diplomatic buildings stay safe. Police continue working on the case — checking security cameras and looking for eye-witnesses in the area
