The Washington Posts Features department announced a key staff change - Dan Zak will take-over as Style assignment editor starting 11/1/24. The move comes after his try-out period which started mid-2023

His switch from writer to editor proved successful showing off his keen eye for interesting stories: During his temp role he worked on several note-worthy pieces (including one about D.C.s rat-hunting dogs and another focusing on a well-known Foggy Bottom neighborhood cat)

The announcement came from top Features staff members including Ben Williams Hank Stuever and Amanda Finnegan who noticed Zaks natural editing skills. His work included managing stories about various topics: from Tom Sellecks career to New Yorks most in-demand plastic surgeon; and a piece about Robert F Kennedy Jr and his familys legacy

The experienced journalists talent for crafting compelling narratives has clearly translated into his editing work - helping other writers shape their stories into engaging reads. His permanent role marks a new chapter in the newspapers Style section which covers culture entertainment and human-interest stories
