Putin gives green light to place new missiles in Belarus next year

At a high-level meet-up in Minsk Vladimir Putin announced plans to station modern-day Oreshnik missiles in Belarus: the deployment should happen around mid-2025. The russian leader made this statement on dec 6th while meeting with his long-time ally

During their talks Alexander Lukashenko asked for these intermediate-range weapons — Putin didnt hesitate to say yes. The belarus side will have full say in picking targets for these ground-based systems (though Russia keeps ownership of the hardware)

Last month‚ the russian military already test-fired an Oreshnik at a target in Ukraine which marked its first-ever real-world use. The missile system — designed to hit targets at mid-range distances — represents one of russias newer military developments
