Putin hints at new targets in Ukraine after missile exchanges

Vladimir Putin announced possible new military targets in Ukraine‚ which could hit key facilities in Kyiv (a response to Ukraines use of Western-made missiles on Russian land)

Last year around november‚ Ukraine used U.S-made ATACMS missiles to strike western Russia – its first-ever use of these weapons. The Russian military quickly tested its new Oreshnik hypersonic missile in combat hitting the city of Dnipro; this weapon cant be stopped by air-defense systems

The Defense Ministry is now looking at different targets including:

  • Military bases
  • Defense production sites
  • Government buildings in Kyiv

Russia hasnt hit Kyivs government areas yet but Putin says his countrys missile production is way-ahead of NATO: “We make 10 times more advanced missiles than NATO and were planning to increase production even more“ [[Statement at Kazakhstan meeting]]

The attacks between both sides kept going with Ukraine firing more ATACMS at Russias Kursk area twice in late nov-2023. Kyiv has strong air-defense but Putin thinks – the new Oreshnik missile might change this situation
