Security tightens in Bangladesh city as Hindu leader arrest leads to deadly clash
A Hindu leaders arrest at Bangladeshʼs main airport caused violent protests in two major cities this week. Six people got arrested after a lawyer died during street clashes while security forces work to maintain order
In a fast-moving chain of events security forces stepped-up their presence in chittagong (a major port-city) after violent street protests broke out this week. The unrest started when Chinmoy Krishna Das a well-known hindu leader got detained at dhaka airport
The authorities took Das into custody on nov-25 for multiple charges including his actions towards the nations flag at a public-gathering; his court appearance next day led to wide-spread demonstrations. During the street-clashes a local lawyer lost his life which made things more complex
Law-enforcement identified six suspects through video-recordings (all of them now in custody) and caught 21 other people for damaging property and fighting with police. Among those caught were six members of ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasinaʼs party who had make-shift explosives
