Serbian ex-minister walks free after deadly railway station incident
Serbian court freed former minister **Goran Vesic** linked to fatal railway station roof collapse that took 15 lives. The incident led to mass-protests and multiple high-rank resignations in Belgrade
The higher court in Novi Sad yesterday set free ex-minister Goran Vesic who was held for a week in relation to a tragic railway station incident. The court stated there wasnt enough proof to keep him detained
Early this month‚ a newly-fixed roof at Novi Sad station fell down killing 14 people right away; another person passed away in hospital later (the concrete top-part crashed without warning). The event pushed many people to go out on streets: they think bad building-work happened due to wrong-doing in high places
All those who are responsible will face consequences
About a week ago police took 11 folks including Vesic and the rail-company boss into custody. Now most stay locked up except:
* Vesic who got released
* Two women who got house-arrest rules
Right after the roof fell down Vesic stepped down from his job; Trade-minister Tomislav Momirovic - who was transport chief when they fixed the station - also quit his spot. The ruling group says they didnt do anything wrong but lots of folk think money-deals and friend-picking made the building work bad-quality
