Sick Gaza child's medical transfer blocked multiple times, UNICEF reports

In central Gazaʼs medical facility‚ Islam al-Rayahen – a twelve-year-old patient lies in severe pain despite getting pain-killers (his condition keeps getting worse due to advanced leukemia and poor nutrition)

The boys family made six different tryʼs to get permission for moving him out of Gaza for stem-cell treatment; however security-related issues blocked each request. Rosalia Bollen from UNICEF saw the childʼs difficult situation during her mid-fall visit to the hospital: his medical state needs urgent attention.

The current situation shows how hard it is for sick children to get proper medical help in Gaza – the local doctors cant provide all needed treatments‚ while getting permission for transfer to better-equipped facilities remains a time-consuming process with no guarantees of success

The child was whimpering in pain even with morphine in his system
