The long-running Syrian conflict has returned to global attention with new developments. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (an Islamic militant organization) made quick advances in northern Syria: the group moved from its north-west base and took over most parts of Aleppo – the countrys largest urban center

The militant groups operation expanded beyond Aleppo moving towards the city of Hama in central Syria (which shows their growing influence in the region). Social-media posts displayed HTS fighters setting-up check-points around the city; their presence was marked by raising flags near Aleppos well-known citadel
