Trump picks tech mogul and ex-candidate to lead new government department

In a bold-move earlier this week Donald Trump picked Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to manage a fresh government department focused on cutting down federal red-tape

The Department of Government Efficiency (which shares its name with Musks favorite crypto-currency) will work on removing excess rules cutting costs and re-doing how agencies work. The project has a dead-line of July 4th 2026 — right when America celebrates its 250-year birthday

This will send shockwaves through the system and anyone involved in government waste which is a lot of people!

Statement by Elon Musk

Both picks come from business world: Musk runs Tesla X and SpaceX while Ramaswamy started in pharma business before trying to become president. After dropping his own campaign Ramaswamy switched to backing Trump (who gave the new project an interesting nick-name comparing it to the Manhattan Project)

The ex-president wants this department to be his big-ticket item for fixing government problems; Musk who gave lots of money to Trumps campaign got this role as a thank-you for support. The worlds richest person will now have a chance to show his business-style methods in government work
