Trump plans massive China trade shake-up that could change everything in 2025

The ex-president aims to cancel Chinaʼs normal trade status (which they got back in the early 2000s) A bunch of law-makers think letting China join the world trade club was a big no-good idea; now theyʼre trying to fix that mistake

Right now only these countries dont have normal trade status:
- Cuba
- North Korea
- Belarus
- Russia
Tom Cotton‚ Josh Hawley‚ and Marco Rubio made-up new rules that would put 35% tax on most Chinese things and 100% on important stuff (like special minerals and medicine) The plan says to do this slow-like over 5 years
Some money-smart people think this might hurt US more than help: it could make prices go up and mess with jobs in farming and digging stuff out of the ground. The Peterson group says Chinese stuff would drop but other countries would just fill-in the gap
The whole thing needs Congress to say yes - kinda like what they did with Russia after the Ukraine thing about 2 years ago. A helper in Congress (who didnt want their name used) says this wont happen this year but its gonna be super-talked-about next time around
