Trump shares plans for new energy council to boost US drilling operations
Former president outlines creation of National Energy Council to expand oil and gas production in the US. The initiative aims to increase energy exports while moving away from current climate-focused policies
In a major policy shift Donald Trump announced plans to form a National Energy Council thats aimed at expanding US energy production worldwide. The initiative which is part of his election platform‚ shows a clear move away from current climate-focused policies
The council will be headed by Doug Burgum (the governor of North Dakota) who brings his stateʼs oil-industry know-how to the table; his main task would be to boost domestic drilling operations. The ex-presidents team sees this as a way to build up what they call “energy dominance“ in global markets
The planned councilʼs goals include:
- Increasing oil-and-gas drilling across US territories
- Expanding energy exports to European allies
- Moving away from climate-change centered policies
- Setting up new drilling permits system
This new direction represents a u-turn from the current administrationʼs green-energy priorities‚ with Trumpʼs team focusing on fossil-fuel development and international energy trade relationships. The council aims to speed-up drilling permits and open up more land for energy production
