Ukraine leader suggests using Russian money for new air defense systems

Volodymyr Zelenskiy pointed-out that 10-12 more Patriot systems would make russian attacks pointless; suggesting to use frozen russian assets (about 30 billion) to fund these life-saving systems

In south-eastern Ukraine a devastating missile strike hit Zaporizhzhia on dec-10th destroying a private medical center and causing multiple casualties: 4 people lost their lives and 20 got hurt including one kid. Six people were stuck under the ruins as local rescue teams worked non-stop to find survivors

The ceiling just collapsed onto my head... Once I dug myself out I started shouting please help

said Anna Zubchenko‚ a 26-year-old eye doctor who survived the attack

The situation in Zaporizhzhia remains tough - just 5 days ago another attack took 10 lives and left more than 20 people hurt. In a related incident an IAEA car got hit by a drone while heading to the regions nuclear plant; Rafael Grossi confirmed his team is safe but the vehicle got badly damaged. Zelenskiy said russians knew exactly what they were targeting when they hit the international agencyʼs car

The need for better air-defense became clear since russias full attack started almost 3 years ago. These systems dont just protect cities - they make enemy attacks useless and save peoples lives instead of sitting unused in storage somewhere

  • Medical center destroyed
  • Multiple people trapped in ruins
  • IAEA vehicle targeted
  • Previous attack killed 10 people
