Ukraine looks to reopen skies after massive damage to civilian airports

In a recent transport meeting Denys Shmyhal‚ Ukraines Prime Minister shared that three-quarters of the countrys airports got damaged since the start of conflict. Currently all twenty civilian air-hubs remain non-operational forcing people to use time-consuming land routes

Getting to international flights has become a real challenge for Ukrainian citizens (especially those living in eastern regions) who need to make day-long trips to nearby countries: some travel by cars others use trains to reach working airports

The government finished safety checks and found out what air-defence systems they need to partly re-open sky routes. Shmyhal noted: “The military situation and safety issues are the main factors that will affect this decision“

Besides air-transport problems Russia damaged lots of sea-related buildings too — about 2 years ago enemies hit port structures almost 60 times which broke down nearly 300 objects and twenty-two non-military ships

There might be some good news on the horizon; experts from Marsh McLennan think that western-based Lviv air-hub could start working next year — if safety experts and political leaders give their ok to this plan
