Ukrainian defenders spot strange behavior in Russian combat drones
Ukrainian military noticed weird problems with Russian attack-drones in early 2024. The new Geran-2 models showed strange flight patterns and often lost control during basic maneuvers
At the start of 2024 Ukrainian air-defense teams noticed something weird with incoming Russian attack-drones. The new-model machines showed unexpected flight problems that made them less dangerous
The fresh-made Geran-2 drones (which came straight from Russian production lines) had trouble with basic flight-paths; they often lost control during sharp-turns and sometimes crashed without any outside help. Other times these high-tech devices just flew straight making them super-easy targets for anti-air systems
Despite these tech-issues Russia kept sending wave after wave of these problematic drones — sometimes launching up to 100 in a single day. The mass-attacks continued even though many machines showed clear design flaws: spinning out of control crashing into empty fields or becoming sitting-ducks for Ukrainian defense crews
