Ukrainian military finds clever way to keep soldiers supplied using drones

In a make-shift underground control-center somewhere in Kharkiv region the Khartia brigade has found an out-of-the-box solution for front-line logistics. Their re-purposed drones – originally built for combat missions now serve as night-time delivery vehicles

The brigades commander Kit (whose name means cat) manages these special deliveries from what he light-heartedly calls their “airbnb“ basement: a dimly-lit room filled with drone-control equipment. The night-vision equipped flying machines carry ten-kilo packages containing water food and heat-packs to isolated fighting positions

These unmanned supply-runs take about 15 mins to reach their destination where small groups of ukrainian soldiers (usually no more than 5) hold defensive positions against russian forces in the cold weather. The packages which Kit carefully drops using thermal cameras contain enough supplies to last a few days; making these air-drops crucial for maintaining combat readiness
