Washington puts National Guard on alert after ballot box attacks
State prepares security measures after ballot boxes got damaged in Vancouver area. Over 2 million early-votes already cast while officials take extra steps for election safety
Governor Jay Inslee made a quick-response move yesterday putting National Guard units on stand-by after some ballot-boxes got attacked in Washington state (which is expected to support Kamala Harris over Donald Trump in the up-coming election)
The state faces new election-related challenges: someone used fire-making stuff to burn ballot boxes earlier this week – damaging lots of peoples votes in Vancouver area. Its a big deal since Washington lets people vote early; more than 2-million residents already sent their election choices
“Based upon general and specific information and concerns regarding the potential for violence or other unlawful activity related to the 2024 general election‚ I want to ensure we are fully prepared to respond“ > [[wrote Governor Inslee in his web-site letter]]
The stateʼs top-priority now is making sure voting stays safe – thats why the National Guard got picked as back-up help (even though polls show Harris will likely win here by a good amount)
