A one-year-old girl died last evening in a fire which occurred at Buckville Squatting Area, Wismar, Linden, Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Dead is Azeza Albert.
The fire erupted at a flat wooden building which was owned by 21-year-old Anikha Harris.
Harris lived at the house with three other persons, including the now dead one-year-old girl and another baby, aged two.
Investigations so far revealed that the fire was started as a result of a lit kerosene stove that fell off a table and ignited nearby combustible materials.
Reports are that Azeza had received third degree burns to about 80% of her body.
