German suspect caught at Russian border with dangerous materials in his car
Russian security caught a Hamburg resident trying to cross into Kaliningrad with explosives in his vehicle. The 57-year old man is linked to a gas station bombing that happened last spring
Russian security agents nabbed Nikolai Gaiduk at the Poland-Kaliningrad check-point during a routine-inspection of his vehicle (they found half-a-liter of liquid bomb-making material)
The 57-year old Hamburg dweller is accused of setting-up an explosion at a gas facility in the baltic region about 8 months ago. FSB claims he made a self-constructed explosive device; which damaged some pipes and started a fire at the station but nobody got hurt
The security service links Gaiduk to a Ukraine-born person living in northern Germany - they say this person gave orders for the attack. FSB is now looking for other people who helped with this plan; searching for more evidence in the case
German diplomatic staff says they know about the situation: their St Petersburg office talks with local authorities and wants to help their citizen. The suspect faces serious charges - smuggling dangerous materials and terror-related activities
