Mexican government faces major data leak threat from dark web hackers

President of Mexico confirmed that her administration is looking into a cyber-attack targeting the governments legal affairs department. The breach resulted in employee-related data showing up in dark-web forums

The cyber-crime group (known as Ransomhub) posted pieces of the stolen info online; making it clear theyʼve got their hands on sensitive government records. The hackers set a strict time-frame — just 10 days to meet their demands: otherwise theyll release around 313GB worth of confidential files

The website Cybernews first spotted this security breach and reported that the attackers posted proof of their successful hack on hidden internet forums. The Mexican government hasnt shared details about what kind of personal info was taken or how many workers might be affected by this data-theft
