Philippine VP faces serious charges as political allies turn against her
Top Philippine officials asked Congress to remove Vice-President from office over money issues and wrong-doing. The request comes after her odd statements about contract killings and fights with other politicians
Philippine lawmakers got an impeachment request against Vice-President Sara Duterte this monday‚ with many well-known people saying shes done bad things with government money
The request came from a mixed-up group (including priest Flaviano Villanueva‚ ex-congressman Gary Alejano and singer Leah Navarro) who listed lots of wrong-doing: taking money‚ not doing her job right and breaking laws
This impeachment is not just a legal battle but a moral crusade to restore dignity and decency to public service
The group made a list of problems with Duterte:
- Not showing up at budget talks
- Taking money while working as vice-president
- Doing bad things when she was education minister
- Breaking basic government rules
Things got weird when Duterte said about 9 days ago that shed hire someone to kill President Marcos‚ his wife and the House Speaker if someone tried to kill her first - but later said people didnt get what she meant
President Marcos made things more complex last friday when he said that looking into these charges would just make Congress waste its time; however political expert Jean Encinas-Franco thinks this whole thing will show if Congress is ready to stand up against Duterte
The problems started after the big team-up between the Marcos and Duterte families fell apart - they worked together to win the election about 2 years ago but now dont get along
