Secret meeting: US diplomats push China to stop North Korea's help to Russia
US officials met with Chinese ambassador to discuss North Korea sending troops to help Russia in Ukraine war. China remains silent while US and South Korea seek its help to prevent conflict growth
In a behind-closed-doors meeting US top-level diplomats sought Chinas help to address growing military ties between Russia and North Korea. The unusual sit-down happened just days ago when three senior-ranking US representatives met with Xie Feng (Chinese ambassador to US) to voice their worries
The main topic centered around North Koreas decision to send thousands of soldiers to back-up Russias military actions in Ukraine. Both Antony Blinken and South Korean officials want Beijing to step-in and use its long standing connections with Moscow and Pyongyang to stop this cooperation; however China hasnt made any public statements about the situation
The State department insider (who asked to stay unnamed) said the meeting focused on getting Beijing to understand US concerns: the discussion highlighted how North Koreas actions could change regional stability. American diplomats made it clear they expect China to take steps towards limiting this military partnership between Moscow and Pyongyang
